Early Life and Education
Elaine Quijano was brought up in the Skokie and Morton Grove suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, by her parents, who emigrated from the Philippines to the US before her birth. Other information about her early life and family is unknown in the media.
Upon matriculation, she enrolled in the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, studying journalism and graduating with a BA degree in 1995.
Speaking about Elaine’s career, it began in 1994, when she was hired to work as an intern on the WCIA-TV channel, located in Champaign, Illinois. Subsequently, Elaine was promoted to the position of anchor/reporter/producer, then after four years there, she decided to leave as she was offered work as a general assignment reporter for WFTS-TV in Tampa, Florida.
Elaine’s rise to fame gradually began in December of 2000, when she joined CNN Newsource, an affiliate of CNN. In the following year, she covered the September 11 attacks, and two years later spent a month in Kuwait City covering the US invasion of Iraq. During the same year, Elaine covered the Beltway sniper attacks as well as the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster.
In 2004, Elaine became a Washington, D.C.-based general assignment correspondent for CNN/US, and during the same year covered not only the Supreme Court and the Pentagon, but also the re-election campaign of President George W. Bush, all of which helped to increase her net worth by a large amount. Two years later, she was promoted to the position of White House correspondent for CNN, covering the George W. Bush administration, where she worked until December of 2009, when she left CNN.

Elaine subsequently started working as a general assignment reporter and news correspondent for CBS News, based in New York City, in 2010. She has worked on such major stories as Hurricane Sandy and the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, both in 2012, after which she covered the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, and the soccer World Cup in 2014.
Furthermore, Elaine was hired as an anchor for CBSN and CBS Weekend News, for the TV shows “The CBS Evening News” and “CBS This Morning”.
