Early Life, Family, and Education
The daughter of Jill and Mark Ramsey, Laura spent her childhood in her hometown and attended Laconia High School, located in Rosendale Wisconsin. Upon matriculation in 2001, Laura enrolled at Ripon College, but soon after figured out that her desire to become an actress was greater than her will to study. As a result, Laura moved to Los Angeles at age 19.
Once in Los Angeles, Laura found a job as a waitress in a restaurant located on Sunset Boulevard, then during one work day, she was noticed by a talent agent who arranged an audition for her the very next day. She made her on-screen debut in the documentary “The Real Cancun”, about students from various universities as they have a good time in Mexico’s resorts. The following year, Laura was cast as Natalie Day in the TV drama series “The Days”, while in 2005 Laura had a minor role in the sports drama film “Lords of Dogtown”, starring Heath Ledger, Emile Hirsch and Victor Rasuk.
Laura was opening doors with every new role, which eventually led to lead roles in “The Covenant”, and “She’s the Man”, both released in 2006, which propelled her to stardom, and she then continued quite successfully, starring in the drama film “Whatever Lola Wants” in 2007, while in 2008 she had a supporting role in the award-nominated horror film “The Ruins”, for which she earned a nomination for a Fright Meter Award in the category for Best Supporting Actress. The same year she captured the hearts of many by portraying Joy in the TV drama series “Mad Men”; though only in one episode, Laura is well remembered for her part. Moving forward, in 2009 Laura featured in the comedy-drama film “Middle Men”, starring Luke Wilson, Giovanni Ribisi and Gabriel Macht, while in 2011 she played Ellie O’Hara in the biopic about Danny Greene, entitled “Kill the Irishman”, with the stars of the film being Ray Stevenson, Christopher Walken and Vincent D’Onorfio. The year was rather successful for the young star, as she also appeared in the crime-drama film “Where the Road Meets the Sun”, and starred in the drama film “1 Out of 7”, next to Toby Hemingway and Vivica A. Fox. Gradually she was becoming known on the Hollywood scene, and in 2013 starred in the comedy-drama film “Are You Here”, next to such famous actors as Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson and Amy Poehler, and in the romantic comedy “Pulling Strings”, with Jaime Camil and Omar Chaparro. Then in 2015, she was chosen for the part of Rebecca Brady, the lead star of the VH1 TV comedy-drama series “Hindsight”, although the series was canceled after only one season, following a change in leadership at VH1. Since then, Laura has withdrawn from the public scene, as she hasn’t been seen in any new project.
