Tye Angland (born July 16, 1989) is an Australian Jockey from Sydney, Australia. On November 25, 2018, Tye had a horrible accident during his race at Sha Tin, Hong Kong, China. According to a source, the jockey might face quadriplegic after suffering a serious spinal cord injury.
He was speared headfirst into the ground after Go Beauty Go stumble him. Moreover, the accident happened just after the start of the 9th race.
On Thursday i.e. December 27, 2018, The Australian Jockeys’ Association provided an update about Tye Angland’s condition. They also stated that Angland fractured and dislocated his spine. As of now, Tye’s spine has been stabilized and realigned.
Tye Angland’s doctor advised that the long-term prediction for injuries of this nature are always hard to diagnose in the early stages. Therefore, there is a likelihood of Tye’s being a quadriplegic in the future.
The jockey spent two weeks in the Intensive Care Unit of the Prince of Wales Hospital after the incident.
