Calysta Bevier was born on 17 September 1999, in the Bowling Green, Ohio USA, and is a singer known from competing in the 11th season of the reality competition series “America’s Got Talent”, in which she received a golden buzzer from judge Simon Cowell.

Early Life, Education, and Cancer
Calysta grew up in Bowling Green with three younger siblings – her father worked as a firefighter, and the family often moved places before settling in Grand Rapids, Ohio. At the age of three, her parents noticed that she had a talent for singing and as she grew older, she developed a passion for performing as well. She attended Otsego High School and during her time there joined the school’s cheerleading team. She won numerous talent contests in school, building her confidence in her voice, however, at the age of 15 she was diagnosed with dysgerminoma, a form of ovarian cancer which is a rare occurrence in someone young. She underwent surgery to remove a near five-pound tumor, followed by chemotherapy treatment; after several long stays in the hospital, she was declared under remission. As a survivor of the disease, she felt that she had the opportunity to spread cancer awareness, leading her to look for opportunities to show her talents as well.
America’s Got Talent
Bevier found out that auditions for the reality competition “America’s Got Talent” would be held, and decided to try it out. The talent show competition is a part of the international “Got Talent” franchise created by Simon Cowell, and attracts participants from various parts of the United States with talents ranging form fields such as magic, stunts, singing, dancing, comedy, and many others. People auditioning try to secure a spot at the live episodes, and so get a chance to win a large cash prize.
During her audition, she sang “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten and her performance moved judge Simon Cowell to press the Golden Buzzer, sending her straight to the quarterfinals; clips of her performing on the show attracted thousands of viewers, leading her to become an internet sensation. During the quarterfinals, she performed the song “Brave” by Sara Barielles, drawing a standing ovation, then in the semi-final competition which she sang the song “Human” by Christina Perri, but didn’t receive enough votes to be sent to the finals, so ending her run.
After her run with “America’s Got Talent”, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a music career. According to various reports, she signed with a management company and is working music releases. She has performed on various live events with popular names in music such as John Legend and T-Pain, and on the Kevin Hart live show. An original online upload of her singing “Fight Song” surfaced on the internet, one that she did before she auditioned for “America’s Got Talent”, attracting thousands of views, even leading to the attention of popular talk show host Ellen DeGeneres – the video was initially aired on her show, and various others started sharing the clips, which eventually led to Calysta being invited onto the “Ellen DeGeneres Show”. She was interviewed, and also performed live in a duet with the original singer Rachel Platten. Since her television appearances, she has started developing a fan base called “Team Caly”.

For her personal life, not much is known in terms of any of any romantic relationships; many state that Bevier is still young and likely not focused on romance, but more on developing her music career. During her free time, she also dedicates a lot of it as an advocate for cancer awareness, helping various organizations to raise funds for cancer research, and visiting cancer patients to help them restore hope. In 2017, she headlined the event called Philly Fights Cancer.
Similar to numerous musicians and television personalities, Bevier is very active online through social media, with accounts associated with Instagram, Twitter and Facebook on which she mainly promotes her music. She also posts a lot of pictures and promotes recent projects including work with Radio Disney. She recently released a single through Spotify and iTunes. Her mother often accompanies her as manager and a travel companion.
